Four Years in the Mountains (And We Still Don’t Ski)
For the past four years, our trips to the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec have never been about the slopes. It’s about the feeling. The quiet. The fire on a Monday afternoon. A cold beer in hand while the snow falls outside.

From Windsor, Ontario, it’s about a 10.5-hour drive, which sounds dramatic until you’re actually doing it. We leave early. Usually around 6:30 a.m.
The truck gets packed while it’s still dark, food and wine stacked carefully.
We left a day before Ontario got hit by that massive snowstorm, and we were lucky. The storm dumped 60 cm of snow in Toronto!

We’re incredibly fortunate to stay at the same cottage every year.
The cottage sits near Lac Supérieur, wrapped gently around the lake, about 20 minutes from the village and 30 minutes from downtown Tremblant. It’s the perfect balance of quiet and access.
Inside, it’s everything a mountain stay should be. Cozy furniture and fireplace!
If you’re curious, you can view the cottage on Vrbo here

Now, technically, this cottage isn’t pet-friendly. But we’ve been given a very kind exception, and we don’t take that lightly.
Oakley comes with us every year, and honestly, this is his trip as much as ours. He’s incredibly well-trained, stays off furniture, and spends most of his time outside exploring the grounds around the house.
He’s a full-on snow dog!
Cabin Nights & Wine by the Fire
Mid-week, our friends joined us. The plan was simple. Stay in. Light the fire. Play games. Drink wine. Repeat.
And because I can’t help myself when it comes to hosting, I turned one afternoon into a full après ski wine tasting. I designed the entire printable kit myself - placemats, wine score cards, a welcome sign, bottle labels, and a hosting guide.
It’s playful, stylish, and easy to use whether you’re in a cabin in Mont-Tremblant or hosting at home.
If you want to recreate our fireside wine tasting, you can download the full printable kit here: 👉 Après Ski Wine Tasting Party Kit – Printable Hosting Set
Perfect for winter weekends, girls’ trips, ski chalets, or cozy entertaining at home.
Inside the kit, you’ll find:
Wine tasting placemats
Table top Welcome Sign
Hosting guide
Custom Wine Bottle Labels

We don’t ski. So this is our take on where to go in Tremblant.
Mornings belong to the cottage. Coffee. Big breakfasts. Slow starts. Maybe a walk around Lac Supérieur if the snow isn’t ridiculous. Then back inside.
By late afternoon, we head out.
Rustique and Bistro Le Loch are both about five minutes from the cottage and always a incredible meal! Rustique is our favourite, so you must try the bison burger and order their poutine. I think their poutine is the best I've ever had!
We love wandering the pedestrian village in Mont-Tremblant, it's only 20 minutes from the cottage. Take the free open air gondola to the top and then walk down!
We never skip La Diable. I order the stout every year. Smooth. Guinness-like. Reliable. If you’re planning your afternoon properly, go around 1 or 2 p.m., have a beer, warm up a bit.
Because the après ski DJs usually start around 3 p.m.
That’s when the terrace at the Fairmont Tremblant comes alive. Steam rising from the outdoor pool. Champagne glasses clinking. Women in fur dancing in snow boots like it’s a runway with snowbanks.
We’ll have a drink there and if you want something livelier? Head to Le P’tit Caribou. That’s where the real energy is.
One year we booked snow tubing at Aventures Neige, right beside AX Hotel Mont-Tremblant, and it ended up being one of our favourite afternoons in Tremblant.
We brought Graham’s family and my friend Tor, who showed up in full vintage ski chic.
I purchased the tubing passes as Christmas presents and I designed custom “lift tickets” to unwrap on Christmas day, which made it feel like an experience before we even arrived. If you’re planning to go, you can reserve your tubing session here:
And if you’d like to surprise your own friends or family, I created an editable lift ticket template you can customize in Canva and print yourself. Because gifting the moment is half the fun. 👉 Click here for the Digital Canva File

Then we go back to the cottage. Light the fire. Open another bottle. Call it a perfect day.
